Amaranthus is Back

One of my favourite flowers is Amaranthus. I can't stop staring at it when ever I see it. Here I have red amarathus, with willow, husk, bark and a few cordyline leaves.

Belly Vase

I love my belly vases. They give any arrangement that wow factor. Made this for some of my clients this week

Last Christmas Arrangement for 2010

I had a family ask for some christmas day flowers that consisted of red roses with anything green so I thought i'd use the green tricks again. They also wanted some chrismassy sprigs for the girls to wear and a large wreath. Here are the photos:

Christmas Arrangements

This was for a small hotel reception... thought I'd do something Christmassy with Red Celosia, Green Tricks, and Bark. Apparently it was a big hit - I think its the interesting Tricks which only seems to be around in the warmer weather.

Christmas Wreath

Made a 25cm willow wreath and added fairy lights, doda vine, and succulents. I soaked the willow branches in water for about 5-10 mins which softened it enough to bend into shape:

Would love to here what decorations you are using for Christmas this year. Don't be shy, write a comment!

It's Christmas!

I have now made my christmas tree... I have ceramic and cane decorations with a few warm fairy lights. Also bought a log and decorated it with orchids and vines... plus put a few candles in the middle... I love it so much I can't stop looking at it. Next year will need to be a real tree I think. We have a bub on the way and I can't disappoint the little fella... maybe he will like my pseudo trees:

Got a few chrissy clients so i'll post the final products when they're done!

Lilies, Lavender & Tropical!

As much as I love lilies, I don't think I want to look at them for a while - they are in season... and in abundance. Clients love them but there a other wonderful arrangements to be made!
Here are some new belly vases I bought for Flower Club with some lovely tropicals:
Lavender... smell so amazing... I actually think the dried lavender I have is from this time last year - It dries so well.

Hydrangea's and Peony Wedding

This was my sister's wedding and we both went to the markets to pick out the flowers 2 days before the wedding. She wanted Hydrangea's and Peonies:

Here are some pics I took on location:
My poor hubby had to deliver these vases for me (they weren't light) as I was in the bridal party. We had no idea it was 49 steps up to the reception room!

White Lily Wedding

I had 6 hand tied boouquets, 1 floral foam posy (for the bride), 2 hair circlets, and 2 baskets. They were very fiddly to work with but turned out pretty!

Note: Lilies are currently in season (Aus. Spring) so they are huge at the moment. was lucky enough to get some average size ones this week.

Purple and White David Austin Wedding

Family Wedding! This wedding would have had the most stressful lead up so far. The brided wanted Peonies however due to the cold weather dragging out into Spring this year they aren't available. Luckily, David Austin's had just (and I mean just) come in to season. They are a garden rose with the most amazing smell:

Dad and Baby:

The Bridesmaids, Flowergirl and proud Father of the Bride:

The reception room was filled with the smell of David Austin Roses, Sweetpea, and Freesia's. All were very happy on the day! Yay Success!

Red and White Wedding

MIA

I have a lot of updating to do and now that i'm on holidays I can do just that! I've been feeling sorry for myself the last few months - lying on the couch - feeling sick. I'm currently 13 and a 1/2 weeks pregnant.

I've now finished my floristry course and have a bit more time to get 'stuff' done..

watch for my new updates!

Corporate and Weddings

In class this week we made a hand tied custome bouquet with a wire frame and a formal linear arrangement in floral foam:

The handtied:

This is a formal linear arrangment in floral foam. I loved making this one. When I get my vase back that will fit the bowl I arranged it in, I will take some nicer photo's.

Cake Topper made as one piece and balanced on top of the cake. Its similar to making a fully wired bouquet but quicker and alot smaller!!:

Daphne: The Most Beautiful Smelling Flower

Daphne is by far (in my book anyway) the most amazing smelling garden shrub flower. It has a strong sweet smell that fills the air around it.

This is what it looks like:

Country of Origin: Western China

Availability: Mid to Late Winter (May - July in Australia) although I got some today (Early August. I didn't really seen much of it over the winter.

As much as I wanted to eat it this morning, it is actually poisonous if eaten.
